Abdirashid Hashi

Abdirashid Hashi is the executive director of HIPS and its co-founder. He brings more than 12 years of experience in government, journalism and think tanks and vast experience on startups and the lessons learned in setting up HIPS. Until December 2012, he was Horn of Africa Analyst with International Crisis Group. Prior to that, he served as deputy chief of staff at the prime minister’s office, secretary to the council of ministers, communications director at the presidency, advisor to the prime minister and cabinet minister responsible for public works and reconstruction. He has a BA in Political Science and History from the University of Toronto.

Abdirahim Amin

  • Program Manager

Abdirahim Amin is a program manager with HIPS. He has more than five years experience working with both governmental and non-governmental agencies in Kenya and Somalia. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree from the University of Delhi with an emphasis on finance and is also a CPA. Abdirahim was grant manager for the Development Alternatives Inc- Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS) program in Nairobi for two years before joining HIPS. Since the setting up of RAADE, Abdirahim’s responsibility has been to manage the unit, ensure client expectations are met and also provide overall strategic direction to the team and also steer the institutional development.

Abdifatah Hassan

  • Research, M & E Coordinator

Abdifatah Hassan is the research, monitoring and evaluation coordinator at RAADE. He brings with him more than six years of experience in M&E and has worked with multinational organizations on projects within Somalia and abroad. He holds Master of Science from Iqra University in Islamabad, Pakistan and his main tasks include managing the research associates, developing qualitative and quantitative tools and overseeing the day-to-day operations.

Mr. Abass Kassim

Mr. Abass Kassim is a researcher with RAADE. He holds an MA in Post-war Recovery Studies from the University of York, UK and a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Nairobi and has worked with various organizations, including the Nairobi-based National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the Mogadishu-based Heritage Institute for Policy Studies (HIPS). Mr. Kassim has participated in various studies in various countries including Kenya, Somalia and Syria and Jordan. Among the papers he has written are: Conflict Analysis on the 1994 Rwanda Genocide; Social Cohesion between Syrian Refugees and the Jordanian Host Community; Diaspora and Post-war Reconstruction Nexus: The Role of Somali Diaspora in their Home Country.

Mr. Abdirahim Adam

Mr. Abdirahim Adam is the research associate at RAADE. He carries with him more than four years community of experience in various field including research, Administration, community mobilizing, monitoring and evaluation, coordinating meeting and organizing events. He holds bachelor degree and pursuing MA in Conflict Resolution, Governance and Peace-building. His core function including conducting qualitative and quantitative research, transcribing and translation of recorded interviews and focus group discussions, developing interview and questionnaire guides, data collection and analysis, identifying key informant and Presenting findings, both verbal and in written form.

Mr. Abdullahi Said

  • Associate researcher

Mr. Abdullahi Said is associate researcher at RAADE. He has more than 2 years’ experience in field of social research and administration he worked different institutions include universities and NGOs in Somalia. He holds Bachelor Degree of public administration from Mogadishu University, Somalia. He is currently pursuing Master of Arts in conflict resolution peace building and governance. His main tasks include conducting quantitative and qualitative research, programing of questions in excel, uploading of questionnaire into online web, doing frequently survey across the regions, scanning and analyzing of data, Transcribing and translation of recorded interviews and focus group discussions, reports writing and presentation.

Mr. Mohamednur Madobe

Mr. Mohamednur Madobe is associate researcher at RAADE. He brings with him more than 8 years of experience in community work activities, in Organizational Skills; Leadership; Problem Solving; Team Building, monitoring and evaluation, Mohamednur has worked with multinational organizations on projects within Somalia and abroad. He holds Bachelors in Social work in Community developments and his main tasks include data collection and analysis, identifying key informant and presenting findings, both verbally and in written form, conducting qualitative and quantitative research, transcribing and translation of recorded interviews and focus group discussions, developing interview and questionnaire guides.

Ms. Yurub waberi

  • Associate Researcher

Ms. Yurub waberi is associate research at RAADE. She has one and half year experience of Monitoring and evaluation, four years’ experience of performing human resources duties administration, such as supervision, employee service, employee counseling, training, and budgets. Yurub has one year experience in data collection with Power Vibe Studio LTD in Nairobi, Kenya. Yurub holds Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree human resource management from Preston University in Islamabad Pakistan. Her role of associate research is conducting quantitative and qualitative research and identifying key informants for research, identifying key stakeholders in a research project, leading focus group discussions, surveys and analysis of data.

Ms. Maimuna Mohamud

  • Researcher

Ms. Maimuna Mohamud is a researcher with RAADE and an independent consultant. Maimuna’s research interests include migration in the Horn of Africa and gender and politics with a particular focus on the Somali regions. She joined HIPS in February 2014 and has worked on two research projects namely the implications of Somali diaspora return to Somalia, and women’s participation in Somali politics and public life. She is currently undertaking an evaluation of Somali Stability Fund’s investments focusing on appraising programs’ adherence to principles of equity and equality and gender-responsiveness. Maimuna is a member of The Cambridge University Migration Research Network. She holds an MSc in Refugees and Forced Migration Studies from the University of Oxford. Prior to that she earned an MA in Global Gender Studies and a BA in Political Science both from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Before joining HIPS, Maimuna worked with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) in Tindouf Algeria as a Field Officer and in Yemen as a research consultant.
