RAADE Group is an independent, indigenous, Somalia based research institution that specializes in research and offers Third Party Monitoring and Evaluation services to project implementing agencies and donors to ensure that informed decisions are made. This is aimed at mitigating duplication of projects, redundancy, and wastage of funds. The organization aims to ensure projects make holistic improvement and impact by providing quality monitoring and evaluation process and strategies that combine both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
RAADE Group was established in 2014 to assess projects/programs funded by the Somali Stability Fund (SSF). As the need for Somalia based research institutions increased, RAADE Group extended its services to other clients. Today, the organization boasts a clientele base that includes Swedish International Development Cooperation (SIDA), Adam Smith International (ASI), UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). RAADE Group offers both short-term and long-term services that go beyond completion of assignments; we advise our clients on the most suitable and cost-effective program design and implementation strategies that achieve optimum impact.
RAADE Group has worked in all the regions of Somalia. Its reach traverses across various divides and environments including but not limited to conflict and post-conflict, urban and rural areas where, previously, no reliable and sufficient information was collected. RAADE utilizes participatory research methods to ensure the views of the people that matter most are heard. Through strategic collaborations with local institutions of higher learning, RAADE engages resources, close to the project implementation sites, who understand the local context and dynamics in order to enrich research and increase participation by local communities, and acceptability of findings by all stakeholders. This partnership also offers an opportunity for the students in partner universities to acquire practical research skills.
Subject to client’s needs as well as the changing scope and scale of the work, RAADE strives to satisfy the client through scaling up its staff and consultants to meet the demands of the clients. RAADE has a pool of part-time technical consultants and full-time staff within and outside Somalia. It has trained 90 part time enumerators based in every region of Somalia. While the international technical consultants may provide general guidelines and assist in developing appropriate data collection methodologies and tools, the local enumerators come in handy when collecting large scale data.
To help sustain research-based interventions in Somalia, RAADE Group emphasizes on transfer of knowledge to clients. We recognize the need to share lessons learnt with our clients, and build frameworks that would enable them carry on effective project implementation strategies long after our contractual agreement comes to an end.
